As the Northern Ireland “troubles” rage around it, the oldest US naval base in Europe prepares for the end of an era.
Captain Tom McKeown comes to the city of Londonderry to close and transfer the US base to the British Army. Should word of the transfer become public, the base will certainly become a primary terrorist objective. Despite the religious conflict, McKeown learns to love Londonderry for its many years of endearment between its people and the navy sailors.
To disrupt a legendary Irish city already plagued by violence McKeown has a duty to perform-a duty that will see Londonderry bid farewell to the US Navy. Most of the sailors will transfer to Thurso, Scotland to expand this US naval facility in the northernmost area of Scotland.
